Pricing Guide
How much do moving leads cost?
Published prices for every type of moving lead, why long-distance and exclusive leads cost more, and the one calculation that tells you whether a lead is cheap or expensive for your company.

The short answer
Moving leads cost between $15 and $100 per lead at MoveLead. A shared local lead sent to up to four movers is $15; a two-mover lead is $28; an exclusive local lead is $45; and a live transfer is $60. Long-distance leads cost more: $20 shared up to $100 for a live transfer. What a lead really costs is the price divided by your close rate — your cost per booked move.
Moving lead prices at a glance
| Lead type | Movers who receive it | Local move | Long-distance move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared | Up to 4 | $15 | $20 |

| Exclusive | 1 — you | $45 | $85 |
| Live transfer | 1 — you, on the phone | $60 | $100 |
MoveLead published per-lead prices. The same in every state; no setup fees or monthly minimums.
Many lead sources do not publish prices at all. Thumbtack lets pros set their own budgets and does not list a per-lead rate on its pro page (Thumbtack), and MoveAdvisor states its leads go to a maximum of three other providers but asks you to contact sales for pricing (MoveAdvisor). If a provider will not tell you the price and the number of movers per lead before you sign up, ask for both in writing.
What makes one moving lead cost more than another
1. How many movers receive it
This is the biggest price driver. A lead sold to four companies can be priced at a quarter of one sold to a single company, because the provider is paid four times. That is why a shared local lead is $15 and an exclusive one is $45. The trade-off is competition: on a shared lead you race three other movers to the phone. See shared vs exclusive moving leads for how that plays out per booked job.
2. Local or long-distance
Long-distance leads cost more — $20 shared versus $15 local — because there are fewer of them and each job is worth more. A 2025 survey of 1,000 moving customers by This Old House put the average local move at $1,489 and the average long-distance move at $3,129 (This Old House).
3. Whether the customer is already on the phone
A live transfer is the most expensive lead type ($60 local, $100 long-distance) because the hardest part — reaching the customer — has already been done. You are paying to skip the callback.
4. Verification
A lead with a phone number verified by SMS or a call before delivery costs more to produce than a raw form fill, but it is the difference between paying for a customer and paying for a typo. Cheap unverified leads are rarely cheap once you count the ones you cannot reach.
Price per lead vs cost per booked move
Price per lead is what providers advertise. Cost per booked move is what decides whether you make money: the lead price divided by your close rate. The figures below are an illustration with assumed close rates, not measured data — your own numbers after 30 days replace them.
| Lead type | Price (local) | Assumed close rate | Cost per booked move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared, up to 4 | $15 | 1 in 8 | $120 |
| Shared, 2 movers | $28 | 1 in 5 | $140 |
| Exclusive | $45 | 1 in 3 | $135 |
| Live transfer | $60 | 1 in 2.5 | $150 |

At those assumptions every tier books a local job for $120 to $150 in lead spend, against an average local move of $1,489. The tier that wins for you depends almost entirely on how fast you call back: the Lead Response Management study found the odds of qualifying a lead fall 21-fold when the response slips from 5 minutes to 30 (Lead Response Management study). Fast teams make shared leads the cheapest per booked move; slower teams pay less per job with exclusive leads.
Hidden costs to check before you buy
- Setup or onboarding fees charged before your first lead.
- Monthly minimums that bill you in slow months when your trucks are already full.
- Long-term contracts that stop you pausing or switching lead type.
- Undisclosed distribution — a 'shared' lead with no stated cap may go to far more than four movers.
- Refund or credit policy for leads with wrong numbers or fake details.
MoveLead has no setup fees, no monthly minimums and no long-term contract, and publishes the distribution cap for every tier on the pricing page. For how other providers compare, see best moving lead providers.
